Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Carl Voltz and Carl W. Batz

October 17, 1873 · Bayreuth

Overview

Wagner demands to be kept promptly informed about the Berlin court-theatre negotiations and the Haase case, on which depends his ordering of furnishings for Wahnfried.

Letter

Dear Sirs!

I can't refrain from emphatically reminding you of the importance for me of being kept posted promptly and accurately about the state of my affairs.

Therefore I ask you:

1. What was the result of the Berlin Conference in the case of the three Court theaters?

2. The Haase affair was supposed to be decided in the latter part of this month, whereupon—presupposing a favorable decision—you planned to offer as a compromise an after-payment of the royalties. How does that stand?

What concerns me is the question of giving or not giving the necessary orders for the interior furnishing of my house.

With the best regards,
faithfully yours,
Richard Wagner
