Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Anton Pusinelli

October 27, 1873 · Bayreuth

Overview

Grieved that Pusinelli cannot come to see the theatre and his young son, Wagner finds it disheartening that Wesendonck too has "urgent business in Berlin" just now, and resolves that one must know how to help oneself.

Letter

Dear Pussel!

The fact that you are not coming grieves me very much: it's exactly you to whom I would have enjoyed showing the theatre and — my young one!

That Wesendonck just now has "urgent business in Berlin" is — quite disheartening. It would have been excellent for him to be here!

Nevertheless — !

Now, one must know how to help oneself!

The Wagnerei sends most cordial greetings to you and the whole Pusselei!

Your

Troubled old
