Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Emil Heckel

October 17, 1873 · Bayreuth

Subject

Written on a circular to the Patrons

Overview

Written on a circular to the Patrons: with Zacharias's conference come to nothing, Wagner proposes to be content with the meeting of Verein delegates, in whose name a manifesto can go out, and asks Heckel to come and bring Zeroni.

Letter

My dear Friend,

The "conference" was another — by word of mouth!

Let us content ourselves now with the meeting of delegates. Even if we are few, we shall at all events represent something — namely, the Wagner-Vereins. In their name a manifesto can very decently go forth. My wife has written you hereon.

Only come, and bring Zeroni with you if possible. My opinion is, things will go right after all. With the heartiest greetings.

Your faithful

Richard Wagner.
