Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Emil Heckel

November 4, 1872 · Bayreuth

Overview

Setting out on his tour of German opera houses, Wagner asks for the Mannheim and Carlsruhe repertoires to be sent to him at Würzburg, promising to visit soon.

Letter

Best Friend,

If — without too much trouble to yourself — you could acquaint me with the Mannheim operatic repertoire — perhaps also the Carlsruhe — from about next Sunday, your news would meet me at Würzburg (Conzertmeister A. Ritter), whither I am bound on Wednesday, and where I expect like news from Darmstadt. Whichever theatre may then come first — according to the attraction it offers me — in any case you will see me soon, and I hope the dear Righteous have not become meanwhiles unrighteous.

With heartiest greeting,

Yours faithfully

Richard Wagner.
