Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 27, 1876

Overview

The second act of the work was again hampered by Herr Unger’s hoarseness, which weakened its effect considerably. By evening both R. and the diarist were worn out, and the day was further troubled by difficulty with Herr Kogel and the choice of Gura for Donner. Reports from Turkey added a dark political note to the atmosphere.

Tuesday, June 27:

Again, second act of Siegfried; again Herr Unger hoarse! Its effect greatly hindered in consequence. R. and I were both tired in the evening.

Trouble with Herr Kogel (Hagen!); Gura has been chosen for Donner. Things are said to be looking bad in Turkey.
