Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of June 28, 1876

Overview

With no governess yet engaged, the children’s unusually good behavior became a source of amusement, as they educated one another like little Pestalozzis. R. endured a taxing rehearsal with Herr Kogel, then the evening brought the second act of Siegfried with orchestra, which was splendid despite Unger still being hoarse. R. also suffered unsettling dreams about the diarist.

Content

Wednesday, June 28:

Still no governess, which makes us laugh and call the children our Pestalozzis, since they are teaching one another. R. has a rehearsal with Herr Kogel in the morning, a great strain for him; in the evening, second act of Siegfried with orchestra. Splendid, but Herr Unger still hoarse!

R. had alarming dreams about me.
