Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of January 21, 1876

Overview

The day was spent in lessons and dictation, with a birthday greeting sent to Feustel. In the evening they kept reading Lagarde’s pamphlet and found it full of worthwhile ideas, which deepened their growing interest in education and the possibility of founding a model school with Nietzsche, Rohde, Overbeck, and Lagarde, perhaps under the King’s patronage.

Content

Friday, January 21:

Lessons and dictation; R. to Feustel with good wishes on his birthday. In the evening continued Prof. Lagarde’s pamphlet. Many excellent things in it. More and more we are considering, R. and I, the question of education; thoughts of establishing a model school, with Nietzsche, Rohde, Overbeck, Lagarde. Could the King be induced to sponsor it? . . .
