Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of January 31, 1872

Overview

Loldi is much better, and the day is calmer than the ones before it. A letter arrives from the narrator’s mother, while R. writes a short but comforting note from Berlin and sends caviar from Leipzig. The narrator spends part of the day with Loldi, goes into town in the afternoon, and later reads Nietzsche. The tone is one of recovery, modest domestic routines, and a little intellectual diversion at day’s end.
