Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of July 15, 1871

Overview

The household falls into a disciplined division of work, with each attending to a task before the children bathe in the lake. Sultry heat and a letter from Nietzsche frame Cosima's reflection that Richard gives more love in that friendship than he receives. She buys blue spectacles for her eyes but remains unsure whether she will wear them.

Saturday, July 15:

Same division of the hours, each at his own task; after work the children bathe in the lake. Very sultry and hot.

Letter from Prof. Nietzsche. In this friendship, too, R. lavishes more love than he receives. I buy myself some blue spectacles, but do not know if I shall wear them.
