Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of May 11, 1881

Overview

The overnight train journey home is brightened by the melodic cry of a boy selling sausage rolls, a small pleasure that stays with them. Arriving to a warm homecoming — all the children, Gobineau, and Joukowsky — the reunion is crowned by Siegfried gazing at his father with radiant joy, though Wagner retires early from exhaustion.
