Sunday, November 25:
To church with the children, heartened by the news that R. slept well. He works and tells me at lunch that he had had an inspiration which would please me: as the esquires repeat the saying about the reine Tor [“pure fool”], both the arrow and Parsifal make their appearance on the word “Tor,” so the saying is not spoken to the end.
He reads in a book by Herr Proelss a description of theatre life in Dresden, based on documents, among them a very dismal one by Johanna Wagner. R. writes to the author, explaining one of the documents to him (letter to Herr von Lüttichau).
In the evening we finish Henry VI, Part I. R. does not care much for the scene between Talbot and his son, finds it too monotonous and sentimental.
