Thursday, May 17:
To the British Museum to see the drawings, then rendezvous with R. at the railroad station to visit Windsor. There he is received by the Queen and Prince Leopold, who talks to him about Rus, whom he once saw in Lucerne.
Windsor makes a powerful impression, though its interior furnishings are much out of keeping with its exterior; and even the lovely van Dycks, the splendid Holbein, and the miraculous Rembrandt do not match it. How different the palaces in Italy!
In the evening Lewes for dinner, then some others, to whom R. reads Parsifal.
