Overview

Following rehearsal, R. meets with several officials to negotiate additional concerts and initially believes the matter settled. He is then disappointed to learn that fewer performances are possible and that the timing is delayed, though the couple still take a drive together afterward.

Friday, May 18:

Rehearsal. Afterward R. has a long conference with Messrs. Schl., Hodge and E., the secretary of the Albert Hall, etc., about giving 3 more concerts. He thinks he has convinced them, and is very upset when he learns from Herr Schl. that only 2 instead of 3 concerts will be possible, and that only in 10 days' time.

We again go for a drive together.
