Diary Entry of May 16, 1877
The day is centered on rehearsal and the evening concert, which makes a strong impression, especially through Materna and the works from Götterdämmerung and Die Meistersinger. Between the two events there are various visits, and later a drive through the City is added as a memorable detail.
Wednesday, May 16:
Rehearsal from 10 until 1 o'clock; in the evening, concert, great effect of Götterdämmerung with Materna, the Ride of the Valkyries, and the Meistersinger Prelude as well. Visits between rehearsal and concert.
[Added later: “Between rehearsal and concert drove through the City with R.”]
