Overview

After driving through Bologna and visiting sites outside the city, they met the syndic Count Tacconi, whose graciousness toward R. made a good impression. The city itself seemed broad, solid, and horizontally spread out, and the evening was spent indoors.

Wednesday, September 27:

Drive through the city with R., then outside the city to S. Michele and the Church of Saint Luke. Spent the evening indoors. Made the acquaintance of the syndic (Count Tacconi), who greets R. as an honorary citizen and makes a pleasant impression on us.

Visited the Archiginnasio; the city is built horizontally, as if by people who had a lot of room to spare. It is very solid.
