Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of September 20, 1876

Overview

A visit to San Marco left mixed feelings, with the grandeur seeming almost excessive and San Zeno feeling more like home. The day also brought a meeting with Tesarini, remembered warmly as an early Wagnerian Venetian, and the evening was spent on the Piazza San Marco.

Wednesday, September 20:

To San Marco: for a poorhouse I like its luxury! I am more at home in San Zeno. Divine air. No desire to think, dream!... Meeting with Tesarini, the corbo bianco, the earliest Wagnerian in Italy, a true Venetian.

Spent the evening on the Piazza San Marco.
