The second act only deepened the disappointment with Frl. Scheffsky, whose performance was judged intolerable. A discussion followed about replacing her at any cost, tempered by the fear that a new singer might not have time to learn the role.

Tuesday, July 18:

Second act of Die Walküre; Frl. Scheffsky even more horrible. An excess of imagination and gracelessness! Conference over whether to get rid of her at all costs. Fears that another singer would no longer have time to learn it. (Also Scaria-like troubles.)
