Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 15, 1876

Overview

Feustel’s receipt of the American remittance meant R. had to push himself even harder. The third act rehearsal only deepened my dislike of Niemann and Eckert, and I was annoyed by ticket troubles, though an amusing dream about an artistic dispute briefly lifted my mood.

Content

Wednesday, March 15:

Friend Feustel has received the American remittance, so R. has to exert himself doubly hard. Rehearsal of the third act; Herr Niemann increasingly unpleasant, hides his incompetence beneath vehemence and agitation.

The good conductor Eckert is also thoroughly incapable — God, Schnorr and Hans, the close studies in Munich — how different! I have trouble with ticket inquiries!

I had an amusing dream about an artistic argument between R[udolf] L[iechtenstein] and Baron Schl[einitz], in which the former, in deference to me, championed all my ideas.
