Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of July 6, 1875

Overview

R. stayed well and spent the day in rehearsals, but there was scarcely a moment for the two of them to speak. The writer endured an unrelieved inner pain, feverish by day and in tears at night, while guests occupied the evening.

Content

Tuesday, July 6:

R. luckily still in good health, holds rehearsals morning and afternoon, in the evening the guests stay on. We hardly manage to exchange a word between ourselves, and I go around with my never-to-be-removed burden of pain, during the day as if in a hot, dry fever, during the night in tears.
