Diary Entry of March 13, 1875
After some calls with Marie Donhoff, the evening brought a pleasant salon at her house where R. saw Marie Hohenlohe again after nineteen years. Though their old intimacy had given way to distance and reserve, he still recognized her at once and found her more interesting than her cold manner first suggested.
Saturday, March 13:
Paid some calls with Marie Donhoff and in the evening a nice soiree at the Donhoffs’, at which R. met Marie Hohenlohe again for the first time in 19 years. After great intimacy, a complete estrangement, but R. recognizes her again and finds her not uninteresting, despite the gaps and the coldness of her nature.
