Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of March 12, 1875

Overview

R. slept well, and Rubinstein arrived from Pest with encouraging figures showing strong concert receipts, enough to reassure everyone about Bayreuth’s prospects. We lunched with our charming Countess, received another exuberant letter from the King about the fragments after Easter, and debated whether R. should risk giving the concert here without rehearsal; later he visited Frau Materna while I stayed in.
