Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 3, 1875

Overview

I spend the morning with the children, send them off to skate, and use the quiet to write letters, though Richter’s failure to appear leaves everyone in Vienna uncertain what to do. The evening gathers people together more successfully, with Glatz singing energetically and Rubinstein giving great pleasure at the piano.

Content

Wednesday, February 3:

Worked with the children; then sent them onto the ice and meanwhile wrote letters, to my father, who is not coming to Vienna, etc.

Waiting in vain for Richter; nobody in Vienna knows what to do, since he has done nothing.

In the evening a fairly large gathering. Herr Glatz sings the duet with Brünnhilde with much energy, and Rubinstein provides great enjoyment with his piano playing.
