Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 4, 1875

Overview

Richard is busy in correspondence with the singers, who are behaving well, while the Karlsruhe orchestra proves far less cooperative. Mimi writes cheerfully about selling a certificate of patronage and a picture, but the talks about the restaurant yield almost nothing and the town remains disappointingly unhelpful.

Content

Thursday, February 4:

Much correspondence between Richard and the singers, who are all behaving well in every respect; less well, on the other hand, the members of the Karlsruhe orchestra.

Splendid Mimi writes again about a certificate of patronage she has sold to Duke Ratibor and a picture by Angeli, sold to Herr Wesendonck.

The conferences concerning the restaurant have brought a very meager result. The town is not nearly helpful enough.
