Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of August 26, 1873

Overview

R. finished his circular to patrons, though the writer regrets that he must ask for support at all. The afternoon in the garden found him in a bad mood, a state the diarist finds understandable. By evening his spirits improved thanks to news from France, a volume by Meding, and ordinary conversation with Malwida. The entry links the emotional swing to the ongoing pressures of their situation.
