Wednesday, May 28:

The journey is decreed, and Daniella is to come, too. Hasty packing and a gloomy departure. Friend Feustel with us as far as Coburg.

Somewhat lengthy and tiring journey, arrival at 9 o’clock in Weimar. My father was at rehearsals. We were met by Frau v. Meyendorff; Lusch was put to bed, we refreshed ourselves, and went to the church, where the rehearsal had just ended and all the people were streaming out. Great lamentations from everyone, except my father, about the rehearsal. Late in the night, arrival of Marie Schleinitz.
