Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of August 10, 1872

Overview

A letter from Herr Voltz brought odd news about Meser's business in Dresden, and Schott returned the score of Die Walküre. R. kept working on his essay and laughed that he rarely has anything new to tell me because he simply turns our conversations into writing. The children and I spent time in the Schweizerei, I resumed Gibbon after a long pause, and I finished knitting the first legging for him with amused disbelief at my own handiwork.

Content

Saturday, August 10:

Letter from Herr Voltz with very curious details concerning Meser’s business in Dresden. Herr Schott returns the score of Die Walküre. R. continues work on his essay and remarks with a laugh that he never has anything to tell me, since he is always just writing up his conversations with me.

In the Schweizerei with the children; in the evening read Gibbon again, after a long break.

Finished knitting my first legging for R.; I tell him laughingly that not even a god would previously have induced me to take up such work.
