Richard Wagner to Emil Heckel

November 11, 1875 · Vienna

Subject

Written on a circular to the artists

Overview

Written on a circular to the artists: things are going 'so-so'; a cantor from Zwickau who raised 6⅔ Patrons' worth of money has asked for a free seat in return; Tannhäuser is to be given in Vienna on the 21st. Wagner signs himself 'fagged out'.

Letter

Most excellent of all Patron-mongers!

By the way, things are going just so-so!

A Cantor Fischer of Zwickau lately caught me 6⅔ Patrons, sent me 6000 marks, and asked if he might have a free seat for it. (!!!)

21st inst. Tannhäuser here.

I have no lists of rehearsals at hand; get one sent you by Feustel, or Fischer (Nibelungen-treasury).

Many hearty greetings from

Your fagged out

Richard Wagner.
