Wagner's Letters

Emil Heckel to Richard Wagner

Undated · Mannheim

Overview

Heckel's immediate reply to the news of King Ludwig's rescue of the Bayreuth undertaking: no greater joy is conceivable, and he asks Wagner to tell him how he can help.

Letter

Dear good Master,

A greater joy, than your letter has afforded me to-day, I cannot conceive! Three cheers for His Majesty King Ludwig the Second of Bavaria! After so many failures, joy at last once more! I hope you will right soon let me know the how, and dispose of me in any way where I can help you.
