Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Carl Brandt

October 7, 1872 · Bayreuth

Overview

Expecting Hoffmann to arrange a meeting in Bayreuth soon, Wagner begs Brandt not to leave him alone with the painter and to keep himself free for a conference by the twelfth of the month.

Letter

Valued Friend and Associate!

I hope that within the next few days Hoffmann will make an appointment for a meeting here in Bayreuth, and I beg you earnestly not to leave me alone with him, as that would defeat the entire purpose (of our conference).

I should like the meeting to take place by the 12th of the month; as soon as he fixes a day, I shall telegraph you and beg of you (to leave) the time free for eventual disposition in this matter.

With respectful greetings,

Yours,

Richard Wagner.
