Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Mathilde Wesendonck

Undated · Zurich

Overview

Recovering, Wagner asks after Mathilde's Italian studies with Francesco de Sanctis, thanks her for the Cervantes, which will tune him for work again, and feels the second act of Tristan beckoning.

Letter

I'm doing tolerably. How does the zealous lady-pupil of de Sanctis?

Thanks for the Cervantes meanwhile. It will tune me gradually for work again. The second act is beckoning me.

Shall we see one another to-day?
