Richard Wagner to Mathilde Wesendonck

Undated · Zurich

Overview

After almost ten hours of "Goethian sleep," Wagner wishes Mathilde a serene good day, sends her Schack's history of Spanish drama with a pun on the name, and promises to read aloud beautifully that evening if Otto has no objection.

Letter

After a wonderful night, blest with almost ten hours of Goethian sleep, I wish you serenely happy Good-day, send (schicke) you Schack, and promise to read aloud quite beautifully this evening, if Herr Otto has nothing against it.
