Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Hans von Bülow

May 1, 1854 · Zurich

Overview

Wagner asks Bülow to see that his creditors make the publisher Meser supply or reprint the piano score of The Flying Dutchman, which the Wiesbaden theatre cannot obtain.

Letter

Dear Hans!

The theater management in Wiesbaden write that they have been trying in vain to get the piano score of The Flying Dutchman from the music shops.

Make this known as from me either by an order from my creditors, the lawyer Pleissner, or Hiebendahl or Kriete, who may take Meser to task only in case of some carelessness on his part, or have them arrange for a new edition in case the old one is sold out. And for heaven's sake have them set to work with a will.

When am I to get news of you? Lazybones.
