Wagner's Letters

Richard Wagner to Emil Heckel

October 17, 1879 · Bayreuth

Overview

Wagner asks for any royalties owed, since the third quarter is always lean for a composer, and says Heckel's account of the Munich Siegfried and Götterdämmerung went to his heart and that he has told the King much about it and about Heckel.

Letter

Dear Friend and Comrade,

If you have any money for me, you will do me a kindness by sending it. The 3rd quarter is always bad for a composer!

Your letter about the Munich performances went to my heart: I have told my King a deal about it, also about yourself!

Now may all-kind Heaven shed its blessing on all further efforts! Frau Heckel and the Fischers — together with yourself — are heartily greeted by

Your
quite especially devoted

Rich. Wagner.
