Monday, September 25:
The cannon fire meant the sinking of a steamship almost exactly in front of our house; two ships collided, and the smaller one was sunk. It is striking that only the passengers are said to have been drowned, and that the captain and crew got to safety.
Visit from the young Count B., now very much improved, but he is very pessimistic with regard to Munich and the Catholic meeting. The children go for an outing with their uncles; R. and I drive to meet them, but do not meet them. Late return of the children and much merriment.
Friend Bucher sends me stamps, splendid ones, for Loulou. Two women died in the steamship accident.
