Saturday, November 13:
R. had a wild and restless night; he cries out "Joukowsky" and "My son," but he soon recovers from his fatigue, and in the evening he greatly enjoys Staberl's Abenteuer. He laughs a great deal, and after the performance goes to thank the actor Lang, who pleases him very much. He is greatly delighted with what he calls "the animal bourgeois quality" of his interpretation.
He is now reading Count Gobineau's La Renaissance with much interest.
