Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 16, 1870

Overview

Cosima prepares for Loldi’s birthday while the lawyer brings encouraging news that the divorce might soon be resolved. Wagner reacts with annoyance, and Cosima inwardly accepts the cost of endurance so long as Wagner’s health, work, and the children remain intact. Public events deepen the gloom, especially French satisfaction over Hohenlohe’s fall and the conflict it may unleash.
