Saturday, June 5:
R. works on his article, but the weather remains cool and gray. He misses the heat very much. All we do is walk in the garden together, but going uphill is something of a strain on him.
In the evening he reads to us several of Schiller's letters about W. Meister and says that the first of them is the finest, so truthful and so full of veneration, and it contains his genuine feelings, which he then modified somewhat out of respect for Goethe.
