Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of February 9, 1880

Overview

A sleepless night left R. exhausted, and he wrote to Dr. Jenkins about his plans while I took the children to the Gala Corso. The bright day brought them pleasure but no relief to him, and the evening passed in conversation with Herr Joukowsky about Pepino and Rossini.

Content

Monday, February 9:

A very restless night, much rambling, great weariness in the morning; yesterday’s walk was too much for him. R. writes to Dr. Jenkins about his plans.

I take the children to the Gala Corso. Fun for them. On my return I find R. much out of humor; a splendid day, but it has brought him no enjoyment. Spent the evening talking to Herr Joukowsky. Comparisons between Pepino and Rossini.
