Wednesday, September 17:
In spite of his bad night R. wants to go for a drive to see something more of the military exercises. He takes pleasure in the drive, in the countryside, in a glass of beer at Dommayer’s; but after lunch he feels very languid, and he still cannot rest properly in the afternoon. By evening he is completely in the grip of his cold, coughing, too.
Whist. To bed at 10 o’clock.
