Wednesday, July 16:
R. slept well, and I had a very delightful dream of a walk with him and the children along the banks of a river, a young, pink-and-mauve-colored eagle alighting on my hand, being put back into a cage, and then reappearing on R.'s shoulder.
R. works on his article, still hoping for the weather to turn fine at last, so that he can begin his opera. In the afternoon friend Levi comes from Paris; he brings me news of my sister Claire and also has many tales to tell about the capital city par excellence. We do nothing else but chat, and in the evening the “upright men,” Rub., Jäger, Wolzogen, are invited to join the conversation.
