Sunday, March 16:
R. had a restless night, but he recovers in the morning and goes to his work. Toward noon he plays to me the passage in which Titurel is carried in. After lunch we go for a walk in lovely sunshine. R. tells me things from Plutarch about the painter Nicias and others.
In the evening he reads to us the 19th canto from the Odyssey, the first conversation between Penelope and Odysseus, and does it in so sublimely moving a way that I shed tears, as if over a tragedy.
