Content

Monday, December 6:

Letter from Marie Muchanoff, which I answer at once; a wretched night. At nights my melancholy thoughts flood over me; I never go to sleep without tears, which then turn into dreams.

Curious: Hans was in fact ill-disposed toward Christmas, and now when I think of him having to spend these days alone, I am overcome, as I prepare for them, by indescribable melancholy. R. still unwell; the children, on the other hand, lively.
