Friday, August 23:

R. did not have a good night; he spends the morning writing to the King for his birthday. In the afternoon he plays the horn passage “Komm, holder Knabe” from Parsifal; this captivates my father at once. R. fetches the manuscript, and then the whole second act up to the kiss is gone through, R. thrilled by the fascination the divine work exerts on my father and radiating genius, greatness, kindness!
