Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of August 10, 1878

Overview

R remains unwell and confined to rest, so the day is shaped by quiet routines, lessons, letters, and concern for his recovery. The entry closes with the departure of Kl. and a sense of longing for him to regain strength.

Content

Saturday, August 10:

R. wakes up with a protesting “Oh, no!”; he dreamed that I had gone away. He is still very run down, and the doctor, whom I sent for, says he should not exert himself, and so this day, too, is restricted to care and quietness. I talk to Kl. about Hans and the children, then I give lessons, write letters, listen to the rest of Schemann’s article, and long for his recovery!
