Diary Entry of November 19, 1877

Overview

The Idyll is sent out, making a private treasure public, and the narrator reflects on the sacrifice involved in that decision. Later, a walk aggravates his foot pain, but the day still includes encouraging news from Bologna and a deepened appreciation of Hamlet's structure.
