Monday, November 5:
Yesterday R. received a letter from Councilor D. with the news of his resignation: his successor is said to be a devotee of W.’s works. The King has ordered a performance of Siegfried, but does not want the Bayreuth decorations, which he says did not please him. Diiffl. suggests that friend Feustel visit Baron Perfall in Munich to arrange matters as circumstances permit.
R. writes a very friendly reply. Diiffiipp is someone with whom he has had a lot to do over the past 11 years. Regarding the Russo-Turkish War, R. says that a turn of events is probably imminent. Plevna is reported to be surrounded, and the Turks now appear to be finished in Asia. R.’s foot slightly better.
