Cosima's Diaries

Diary Entry of October 13, 1877

Overview

R. remained troubled by his foot and could not manage long walks, keeping the day quiet. A letter from a former cleric brought back touching memories, and Nietzsche sent a manuscript while also reporting poor health of his own.

Saturday, October 13:

Still the same. R. is troubled only by his foot; he cannot walk far. I receive a letter from the Benedictine father who christened Isolde before turning to Old Catholicism (he became a parish priest in Thiengen), and who is now abandoning it in order to marry. Touching memories! ... Friend Nietzsche sends us a nice manuscript by a Dr. Eiser in Frankfurt, but has only bad things to report about his health.
