Diary Entry of October 4, 1877
R. was again in good spirits and back at work, while a visit from Dr. Strecker turned into a difficult bargaining session over manuscripts and debt. The pressure over what to give up hung over the evening, despite the outward recovery of energy.
Thursday, October 4:
R., again quite well and full of courage, says he has to take care of the laide demoiselle. In the evening Dr. Strecker. A great battle: he wants the Idyll and the text of Parsifal in order to pay off our debt; I offer him youthful works by R.!
