Friday, September 21:

The American dentist Mr. Jenkins arrives from Dresden at my request to attend to R., and the very agreeable man begins his operation immediately in the afternoon.

In the evening, in a long conversation with Fritz, R. expatiates on the injustice committed by Bismarck in annexing Hanover, etc. He might take over control, yes, even for a lengthy period, but should not put it in his pocket.
