Wednesday, July 25:
Joyful reunion with our child, who, just like Schiller's unknown maiden, seems to us transfigured by joy and sorrow.
R. had sent to Altenburg for her so that we could visit my father with the whole family. Frau v. Schl. tells us all sorts of curious things about Berlin; Bismarck, who literally hates both her and her husband, gets the newspapers to declare that Bayreuth is only a subterfuge for her Catholic party intrigues, etc. Absurd, angry rubbish.
In the evening departure of our friends; they are returning to Berlin, where things are looking topsy-turvy.
